About Me

I have always enjoyed the thrill of these computing machines that now pervade our everyday lives and I was exposed to the personal computer at a very young age. My father was a major proponent for technology in my family and soon started teaching me the basics of using the computer. This progressed rapidly and I started programming in elementary school under the direction of my uncle. Since then, I have come to appreciate the computer much more and I have seen the unbounded world of possibilities that motivates me to work harder.

I believe I have a full life and I enjoy every day of it. Along with computer technology, I began a musical expedition early and I have been playing trumpet dedicatedly for over a decade. I spent all four years in my high school in every musical group I could join including marching band, jazz band, and concert band and managed to work my way up to the top ensembles and earned a spot as section leader for marching band where I guided and looked after over two dozen young trumpet players. In addition to school groups, I have participated in community orchestras and private bands such as the Community Youth Orchestra of Southern California and the Impulse Drum and Bugle Corps. Now I am currently in Cal Poly Pomona's Bronco Pep Band and I plan on continuing my life of music.

On campus, I have decidedly taken an active role in school functions and have become Treasurer of the Computer Science Society as well as joining several other groups and clubs including the Kellogg Honors College and Alpha Lambda Delta Honor Society. During my first year at the school I was fortunate to meet another aspiring computer scientist and ended up co-founding the Game Design and Appreciation club, which held weekly club meetings with a strong attendance. In this club, our goal was to assist each other in breaking into the industry of game programming and development and to help people understand what actually is involved in creating a game. People have enjoyed our meetings and have cited our talks as being especially useful for getting a general idea of the commitment required in the industry.

Since my beginnings in computer programming I have established long-lasting relationships with others who have similar goals in mind and with them I have managed to accomplish some remarkable things early on. In middle school, a web programmer and myself started a forum hosting business where I gained valuable insight about management and leadership. From experience in working at both the California Department of Transportation and the Jet Propulsion Laboratory, I have learned about software development methodologies such as the Agile and Spiral processes as well as knowledge of project management. I have been seeking internships and opportunities in software engineering in order to expand my knowledge and skills in the field because I believe it is a critically important part of our increasingly computerized world.
